New York Sept 08

Well we decided to go to New York for a Voice Dialogue Conference. While we were there we got to walk through Central Park in Manhattan. The experience the public transportation system; Van Pool from the Airport, buses going to and from our conference; Subway as we explorer places like Time Square, and some restaurants both near where we were and as far down as south Manhattan.

This experience has been such a possitive one, that we're planning on going back. For now we'll continue to treasure this experience in our hearts and remember the people we came in contact during our time there.

I do have to add a comment here. We discovered that people in New York have what I call an edge to them, and at the same time are so willing to take the time to talk to you and if you need any help (which we did), they're willing to graciously guide you, this for me made the whole experience worth while.

Thank you... New York! – To see pict from the trip go to the photo gallery.

Labor Day Weekend

A Labor of Love!

Over the weekend we did a couple of trips around our area. The first on Sunday we took off from Victorville, passed by the Cajon Pass and ended up in Little Creek. About 60 percent of this was done OFF ROAD on our Bikes. Following this we took of towards Big Bear Lake. We went up to Big Bear Lake and took some of the back trails. We ended up back on Hwy 38, going home through the back way of the San Bernardino Mountain area.

On Monday, we took a jeep from a friend of ours and ended up in the back country of Writghwood.

The site were expectacular and the OFF Roading was great. We got into some tight spots, but the jeep lived up to the expectations and reputation of Jeep.

While we were over in the back country we had some Sausage Sandwich, which was a treat in the coolness of the valley we were in.

Grand Canyon March 2008

We're trained professionals. This is not for everyone!

So we like to say! :-)

Well we did it. A 330 miles weekend ride. We started in California making a stop in Vegas for a buffet dinner in one of the casino's near the 15 freeway. After a great meal we continud to St. George, Utah. Once there, we checked our back packs and turned in for the night.

Friday, came very quickly as the excitement of the anticipated ride was finally here. We left our truck at a truck stop off the 15 Fwy. After about an hour of last minute prevantive maintenance items we got on our way. The sign below was one of the many we encounter along our path.

Primitive Road

Around 11:30 am on Friday morning we arrived at our first destination "Bar Ten Ranch", where we were greeted with a familiar smile. Uncle Ned and his wife. After dropping off our gear and getting rid of about 50 lbs worth of weight, we hit the trails near the North Part of the Grand Canyon. The views were just breathtaking, the weather perfect and the presence of nature was very strong. Laying on the rocks, and resting for awhile was a very energizing experience. Feeling small, before such inmensity was a very humbling feeling.

I forgot to mentioned that before arriving to BTR we had to stop, because Miguel's rack broke. After re-distributing his load between, Luis and me we continued to BTR.

After a few hours we headed back and realized that we were going the wrong way, so we took out the GPS and decided to go back to one of our favorite spots, 12 miles aproximately south from Bar Ten Ranch, there is just a breath taking view there. On our way there I took a fall that left me in a great deal of pain. After making sure that the gas was turned off on my bike, I laid on the ground for a few minutes trying to assess the damage to my body. After realizing that all was moving, though in pain I was certain that nothing was broken.Needless to say, I proceeded with a great deal of caution. Lifting my bike from the ground and continuing on my way.
